During Days of Mindfulness in Boulder, we would pick a different precept from the Order of Interbeing and reflect on what it meant in our lives. I got stuck on Right Livelihood, and it would not leave me. For the next few years, it worked with me until I found the courage and the way to drastically change my career path. Now I am taking the time to prepare for a path in human service instead of continuing my contribution in the capitalistic system of competition and hierarchy.

Now I am taking the time to prepare for a path in human service instead of continuing my contribution in the capitalistic system of competition and hierarchy. I no longer wish to participate in the factors that contribute to greater stratification of wealth, and I hope to counteract this system by supporting and working with groups that truly are a benefit to all beings. The Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha give me the courage to take the path in life that I know is right in my heart and have confidence in my actions.
My path remains clearer and brighter with the guidance of Thich Nhat Hanh, and it is a blessing to have connections to his teachings and to all of those around who are also touched by his presence.
