Poem: Bees in Lavender

What perfect immediacy:
the intense concentration of bees
in lavender.
How like pendulums entrained
they refuse distraction,
yellow monks draped in
purple robes, flying zazen,
their circle of wings
forgetting all attachments,
no words to disconnect
them from the world.
