Socorro Maldonado
Socorro (Soco) Maldonado, Loving Refuge of the Heart (pronouns she/her), identifies as a Mexican-immigrant-bicultural-Brown woman. Since she was first in touch with Thầy’s teachings in 2012, the path of healing and transformation led her to become a teacher for children–first, by combining her career as an architect and city planner with volunteering in a school for neurodiverse children and, after a few years, by committing full-time to sharing the practices of yoga and mindfulness with them. Currently, she teaches a group of first graders and hopes to grow alongside them for the next eight years. Soco enjoys every opportunity to learn something new. She is an advocate for social and environmental justice. She lives in Southern California, US, and shares the path with her husband. Both enjoy living a simple life with a close connection to the Earth and all beings.
