Retreat Steps

Slow down,
I remind myself
as I walk the stone steps
on this fall day.

Slow down,
because I’ve rushed
so much in my life,
done so much
to prove I’m worthy.

Slow down.
Allow the crisp air
to awaken and heal

Retreat Steps

Slow down,
I remind myself
as I walk the stone steps
on this fall day.

Slow down,
because I’ve rushed
so much in my life,
done so much
to prove I’m worthy.

Slow down.
Allow the crisp air
to awaken and heal
my body, mind, heart, and spirit.

Slow down,
to feel the sacred connection
of our silent community
as the leaves show us how to let go.

One step at a time,
I am guided…free of my own bonds,
I follow the unforced rhythm
that grace offers me,
if I slow down.

Haiku

On a retreat in the fall of 2021, I was introduced to haiku as a meditative practice. A haiku has five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. Haiku often hold images of nature, but not always. I hope you enjoy these haiku and try writing some haiku of your own.

Sacred Invitation

The gates are open
my Beloved, remember
and just walk through them.

Divinity

Alight with my Love
Realizing Truth in presence
No more roads alone.

Wisdom of the Trees

Surrounded by wind
the trees spoke to me today,
“Be still and let go.”
